Wrights Plastics were delighted to welcome a group of future product designers to our West Bromwich HQ this week.
Second year students from University of Wolverhampton BDes Product Design course together with tutors Jason Fernandes and Henry Watson toured the factory floor and design department as part of a project aimed at giving them a greater understanding of manufacturing methods and techniques.
Over the course of the tour the students gained an insight into some of the processes we use in the manufacture of plastic parts, components and products, including vacuum forming, CNC routing, laser cut plastics and line bending.
As well as checking out some state-of-the-art kit, the students quizzed the dedicated teams as well as our Head of Design Gary Oakley. Our finished products range from car components to bespoke POS retail display so the students could learn more about product design in many sectors. It was also great to welcome back Jason and Henry who previously worked for us. We wish all the students the very best in an exciting career choice.
