We developed an innovative lightweight display fin for Marks & Spencer
– noPerspex® approved supplier Wrights Plastics used Alupanel Aluminium Composite to develop a lightweight display solution for one of the UK’s best-loved retail brands, Marks and Spencer.
M&S use divider fins to cover the ends of retail display gondolas. Traditionally they have used fins manufactured from MDF. They weighed in at about 45 kilos each making them difficult for staff to manoeuvre when creating and updating displays. They asked our team – with our experience of developing lightweight retail display solutions for M&S – to see if there was an alternative.
Alupanel’s combination of impressive rigidity and ultrawhite finish makes it both hard wearing and aesthetically pleasing for such retail products. Alupanel is produced with a thin aluminium skin and polyethylene core meeting the requirements for a lightweight solution.
The new fin is now just 15 kilos – much easier for staff to move about. And the reduced weight per unit meant lower distribution costs – and that means less environmental impact. And in more good news from the environment by choosing Alupanel we used the only ACM to be manufactured in the UK – no Air Miles adding to the environmental impact of this project.
The retailer was so delighted with our solution they asked us to manufacture over 3000 ‘fins’ in a variety of sizes, as well as tasking us with distribution to around 800 M&S stores across the UK.
