Value-Engineered Display Solutions for F Hinds
We’ve been helping one of the UK’s leading jewellers increase the impact of their window displays. As well as helping them maximise window space across their UK network, we have reduced costs while increasing display flexibility.
F Hinds has been selling jewellery since 1856 and it is still a family-run business operating over 100 stores across the UK and employing over 1000 people. They were early converts to digital but bricks and mortar shops remain central to their activity, and they acquired the Chappelle brand in 2019.
Challenging times in High Street retail means that cost-control is important and maximising the impact of display to attract customers is essential. We worked with the retailer on two major projects that helped them achieve both.
Project 1: Window Display Blocks
F Hinds’ existing display blocks were weighty and a little dated. We developed a series of display blocks that were cheaper to produce but offered greater flexibility. Different block layouts, shapes and sizes meant that most of the available window could be used for display, helping the instore teams maximise display space and enabling displays to be reconfigured easily – great for maintaining customer interest.
For durability we manufactured the blocks from UV-stable pinseal ABS. We developed the tooling and used our extensive vacuum forming expertise to manufacture the blocks and our latest 5 axis CNC router to trim to finish.
To date over 10000 blocks have been supplied for use across the entire F Hinds network.
Project 2: Point of Sale Print Frames
The project is a great example of our value-engineered approach to our clients’ requirements. Frames are used extensively in F Hinds’ window displays but existing frames were heavy and unwieldly and a proposed metal alternative was proving expensive – which is when we were approached to develop an affordable, lightweight but durable alternative. We developed an acrylic frame that met the brief, and by manufacturing a range of frame sizes again helped make the most of window display space, and we ensured all frames aligned when placed in the window.
Our precision plastic laser cutting kit was used to manufacture the frames, and our acrylic fabrication teams completed the process.
To do date over 1500 frames have been made & supplied for use across a 125 store roll out
Working with F Hinds
Reading about our experience designing, developing & making Point of Sale display solutions for the jewellery sector was the catalyst for the company to contact our retail display specialist James Ivison to discuss their initial requirement, and a second project followed the success of the first. We are proud to be a chosen partner for one of the UK’s most recognised and loved jewellery brands.
